Albstoffe loves cotton. That is why almost the entire Albstoffe collection is made from GOTS-certified cotton. BUT: special challenges call for special solutions. For use as a face covering, cotton is NOT recommended. For this particular use, the Albstoffe textile engineers recommend the clinically tested, antimicrobial high-tech fibre Trevira-Bioactive. Cotton offers a good breeding ground for the growth of spores, mites, bacteria and other pathogens. In Trevira-Bioactive, silver ions are firmly worked into the fibre; they have an antimicrobial effect and thus inhibit the growth of bacteria. The development of odour is prevented as well. An effect that stays for ever! Cotton is not well suited as a filter either, because the irregular yarn and fabric structure (natural fibre) makes for poor filter performance. Trevira-Bioactive is processed as an endless microfilament. The many extremely fine capillaries give very good filter performance.
