Description
The elastic piping in navy is a dark blue decorative trim for the seam, 8 mm wide, made of 92% PA and 8% EL. Navy is the calm alternative to black: on white, light blue or striped fabrics it keeps the edge clear but not hard – the maritime look for shirts, dresses and jackets.
It is sewn in between two layers so that only the cord shows. Stitch the piping onto one layer of fabric first and only then close the seam, that way you can see exactly how much stays visible. My tip: sew a test seam on a scrap beforehand and check how far your seam allowance reaches – depending on the presser foot, the visible width shifts a little.
