Navy blue webbing in 100 % cotton by Hanabi, 30 mm wide. Dark blue is the colour for anyone who finds black too harsh: it harmonises with striped fabrics, denim, red and white and looks calm on bags as well as on drawstring gym bags.
Sold by the metre, you cut exactly the length your pattern calls for. For a shoulder bag, measure over the shoulder with the tape measure beforehand and add the seam allowance for the attachment. You do not need a special needle, but a slightly longer stitch and a slow pace help, because several layers of cotton build up thickly under the presser foot.
