Description
Beige sounds unremarkable, yet in muslin with broderie anglaise it turns into a warm natural shade on which the botanical pattern looks calm. Sew a large scarf with a narrow rolled hem from it, or a light beach tunic. For cutting out, reach for the rotary cutter rather than the scissors – that gives clean edges.
A trend fabric if ever there was one – over the past few years, yesterday’s muslin squares and nappies for babies have become today’s summer clothing fabric. Even so, this one is not simply to be compared with an ordinary muslin. This cotton double gauze with fine broderie anglaise is double-layered and joined at intervals.
It is also known as double gauze or gauze! It makes an ideal clothing fabric for lightweight garments such as blouses or dresses, but it can just as well be used for cribs or bed linen. The crinkled surface is what makes it so appealing if you dislike ironing, and the handle is wonderfully soft.
