Description
Boiled wool loden in pure wool, soft to the touch, sold by the metre for coats, jackets, capes and waistcoats. You can get this boiled wool in blue, black and petrol. It is also a rewarding fabric for children’s jackets, overalls and warm slippers.
The material is 100% wool, the weight 385 g/m2 and the width 146 cm. At this weight the fabric holds its shape nicely without looking stiff.
Boiled wool does not fray at the cut edge. You can therefore leave hems and edges raw or simply topstitch them with a decorative seam, which saves bulk in the seam. A rotary cutter is the best tool for cutting out, and a slightly heavier needle for sewing. Press the seam allowances open flat so that the seam does not add bulk.
